W.E.B. Du Bois W.E.B. Du Bois was a scholar and activist who became the first African American to earn a doctorate from Harvard. He  was the best known spokesperson for African American rights during the first half of the 20th century. Du Bois co-founded the NAACP in 1909.

Emma Goldman Emma Goldman was an anarchist known for her political activism, writing, and speeches. She played a pivotal role in the development of anarchist political philosophy in North America and Europe in the first half of the twentieth century.
